Permits
  • Presently the Town of Wilton has a permit application for Driveways and Non-Metallic Mining.

  • Please contact the Town of Wilton prior to contacting the County to see if you need to have any applications or fees approved by the town prior to being able to get your permits from the county.  This includes any building, construction of new buildings, field drives, agricultural use facilities and/or moving of buildings.  For more information, please contact Chairman Chris Chambers (608)435-6852 or Clerk Dawn Pingel (608)343-7869 for any town permit questions.

  • Any new construction will also require you to comply with Monroe County Zoning for permits needed.

  • Conditional Use Permits are issued by Monroe County but also need to be approved by the town board first.  The town board will not approve any conditional use permit if you are in any violation with Monroe County Zoning. The Town of Wilton recommends contacting the Monroe County Sheriff at (608)269-2117 prior to any burning.  This should prevent you from a fine or a service call fee.  They would also be able to tell you if you need a permit for burning.

  • Seasonal Weight Restrictions will typically be put on when Monroe County puts their weight restrictions on.  You need consent of the Town Board Chairman to haul beyond these restrictions.  Animal feed is not an exception and you will be asked to comply, please prepare accordingly.

Sanitation

If you live in an area of Monroe County that is not served by a public sewage disposal plant you need a private sewage disposal system to service a dwelling, business, etc. which has running water.
